Monkey Mind Pirates is an award-winning musical tale of a sea captain’s quest to navigate the stormy seas of stress and includes puppets, rock and yoga. For families with a child on the autism spectrum, it gives them a rare opportunity to participate in the arts together, while learning a common language and creative tools for finding calm in their lives.

Coming off of a successful collaboration in 2014, AuSM and Z Puppets Rosenschnoz will be expanding the program in the Twin Cities and bringing it to Duluth and Rochester in the coming year. AuSM Executive Director, Jonah Weinberg says, “We are excited to be partnering with Z Puppets again and to be expanding the project to areas of the state where programming for families impacted by autism is sorely needed.”

This activity has been made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

The Twin Cities workshop will be scheduled this winter while the Duluth and Rochester locations will be a spring break and a summer camp respectively. More details will be coming soon to the AuSM website.
