Adults on the Spectrum

Designed for adults with autism spectrum disorder, their spouses/partners and family members. An evening focused on living with ASD and the unique challenges and successes experienced by adults on the spectrum.

Course Goals

To discuss the unique traits of adults with ASD

  1. To review how ASD affects adult life
  2. To learn new communication and emotional regulation tools
  3. To learn strategies for expanding independence
  4. To understand sexuality and how to maintain reciprocal relationships
  5. To discover underlying causes of behavior challenges
  6. To gain acceptance of self

  6. Discuss sexuality and sexual issues related to ASD

  9. Dealing with emotions and letting go

Presenters
The Adults on the Spectrum Discovery Series is presented by staff and families who belong to the Autism Society of Minnesota. During the session, participants will meet individuals who will share practical ideas and insights from their personal experience living with autism. Course participants will also receive a binder of information which will be a useful resource for many years.

When and Where
The Adults on the Spectrum Discovery Series will be offered on the following dates. Each class is held from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Register well in advance, for class size is limited. The class will be held at the AuSM office in St. Paul. Confirmation and directions will be sent one week prior to the class.

Cost
$20 per family. This fee is for two attendees. Singles are encouraged to bring a friend or family member. Please do not bring children as childcare is not offered. Special reduced rates are available for those who are unable to pay the entire fee. Call the AuSM office at 651.647.1083 for more information.
