Headwaters Autism Adventure
1 Session: July 27-Aug. 3, 2018 (males and females, ages 13-17)
Location: True Friends/Courage North, Lake George, Minn.
Staff-to-Camper Ratio: 1:3
In collaboration with AuSM, True Friends/Courage North offers this exciting trip, tailored to the needs of teenagers with autism. While camping, canoeing, biking, and hiking through beautiful north-country terrain, campers will develop communication, leadership, and wilderness survival skills. The program will begin with two days of preparation and team-building at Camp Courage North. Then, as they explore Itasca State Park and the surrounding Paul Bunyan State Forest, campers will have the opportunity to delve into a special interest such as: animal tracking, plant identification, shelter building, outdoor cooking, history, or nature art. Campers should be able to tolerate 1-3 hours of moderate exercise at a time.
Please apply for this program directly through True Friends/Courage North. Those registering for Headwaters Autism Adventure and new to AuSM will receive a complimentary year-long AuSM membership.
