Duluth Summer 2019 Social Skills
AuSM is pleased to partner with the Lake Superior Zoo and the Great Lakes Aquarium to offer two exciting social skills classes for youth with autism. AuSM Social Skills summer classes build skills in low-stress environments that encourage learning and growth. AuSM provides programming that is conducive to youth who fall within the wide range of the autism spectrum and offers a 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio.
Zookeeper Camp at the Lake Superior Zoo (ages 8-12)
Learn what it’s like to be a zookeeper by preparing animal meals, making enrichments, cleaning exhibits, observing animal training, and more! This camp will be co-taught by zoo educators and an AuSM Education Specialist. AuSM Social Skills classes are tailored to give youth with autism fun, safe, and exciting experiences while they increase self-esteem, expand their knowledge, and build friendships. A camp T-shirt is included in the camp cost.

Animal Care Camp at Great Lakes Aquarium (ages 13-21)
Take an active role in animal care at Great Lakes Aquarium while developing social skills useful in everyday life. Get hands-on practice with animal behavior observations and engineering design challenges to create enrichment to keep the resident animals healthy, happy, and active. Working as a team, go behind the scenes to prepare meals, clean exhibits, test water quality, participate in collections, and more!
